Aromatherapy draws on the wonders of nature to restore and maintain our health and well being

Accepted by the medical establishment today as a form of alternative medicine, Aromatherapy uses the essential oils of the plant and other aromatic plant compounds to provide holistic treatment of the body, and ease a wide range of physical and mental skin problems and “ailments”.

Aromatherapy’s history goes back 6,000 years. The ancient Egyptians and the Chinese used aromatherapy, as well as the early Greeks and Romans. The Bible mentions essential oils 188 times – whether for religious rituals, beauty care, medical therapy, or nutrition.

Living with Harmony

Humankind has always searched for harmony. It appears in the Life Force philosophy that claims “life is everywhere”, as well as in the ancient Chinese Yin-Yang concepts that seek balance and believe everything is interrelated. In modern life too, more and more people, worldwide, seek out organic products and foods knowing that they are in greater harmony with our bodies’ needs.

No two essential oils smell the same

The unique properties of each essential oil contain hundreds of different compounds with each   having an extremely complex molecular structure. Most essential oils easily evaporate in the open air – yet they are too powerful to be applied directly onto the skin. Usually extracted by distillation, the amount of essential oil drawn from a plant varies between 0.01% and 0%, which explains why they are such expensive components in cosmetic formulas. Considered both an indispensable and pleasure generating alternative to chemicals, no wonder the appeal and interest in aromatherapy is spreading globally.

Health Benefits of Aromatherapy

Essential oils are highly valued because they enhance skin penetration and rapidly penetrate through the stratum corneum to the lower layers of the skin. Through their capability to stimulate blood circulation, they help to improve the efficiency of the immune system and benefit the entire body. It is a proven fact that natural essential oils have a positive influence on the mind – not only do they relax and stimulate, but they also contain cleansing antiseptic properties.
